The number of hilar SS neurons remained unchanged. However, the pentylenetetrazole seizure threshold was somewhat decreased in electroshock-treated rats. Despite this, no spontaneous seizures were detected Givinostat Cytoskeletal Signaling inhibitor in this group. In contrast, status epilepticus (pilocarpine model) produced loss of the hilar NPY and SS cells. Moreover, all rats with status epilepticus showed spontaneous behavioral seizures and their seizure threshold was markedly decreased. These findings
support the notion that sustained NPY overexpression induced by brief seizures can be important in preventing epileptogenesis. (C) 2010 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.”
“ICE1, a MYC-type transcription factor, has an important role in the induction of CBF3/DREB1A for regulation of cold signaling and tolerance. Here we reveal that serine 403 of ICE1 is involved in regulating the transactivation and stability of the ICE1 protein.
Substitution of serine 403 by alanine enhanced the transactivational activity of ICE1 in Arabidopsis selleck chemical protoplasts. Over-expression of ICE1(S403A) conferred more freezing tolerance than ICE1(WT) in Arabidopsis, and the expression of cold-regulated genes such as CBF3/DREB1A, COR47 and KIN1 was enhanced in plants over-expressing ICE1(S403A). Furthermore, the ICE1(S403A) protein level was not changed after cold treatment, whereas the ICE1(WT) protein level was reduced. Interestingly, polyubiquitylation of the ICE1(S403A) protein in vivo was apparently Selleck RSL 3 blocked. These results demonstrate that serine 403 of ICE1 has roles in both transactivation and cold-induced degradation of ICE1 via the ubiquitin/26S proteasome pathway, suggesting that serine 403 is a key residue for the attenuation of cold-stress responses by HOS1-mediated degradation of ICE1.”
“A photoactive polymer containing aryl substituted diazoketo groups was prepared by radical polymerization of methyl methacrylate, 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate
and photoactive 2-(2-diazo-3-oxo-3-(4-dimethylaminophenyl)-propionyloxy)-ethyl methacrylate. Upon UV irradiation at 365 nm, the diazoketo groups of the copolymer underwent the Wolff rearrangement and afforded ketenes that reacted with water to provide carboxylic moieties that could be removed by basic developer. It was demonstrated that this photoactive polymer could be used as a novel single component positive photoresist. (C) 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 123: 554-561, 2012″
“Although morphine has an anticonvulsant effect in several animal models of seizures, its potential clinical application in epilepsy may be hindered by its adverse effects like opioid tolerance. The present study evaluated the development of tolerance to the anticonvulsant effect of morphine in a model of clonic seizures induced with pentylenetetrazole (PTZ) in male Swiss mice.
